So snail mail is now faster than e-mail? First of all, recognize that Pitney Bowes is not exactly an unbiased source. (Sort of like tobacco companies telling you that smoking is good for you and will score with the chicks faster than non-smoking.)

I do know that in both business and family matters, I am usually able to get in about three rounds of two-way communication in about four hours. In snail mail, that takes about 8 days (if I don't let an envelope develop mold in my in-basket).

The Pitney Bowes study is clearly ridiculous unless (here's a dumb thought) they are measuring time starting from the point of retrieval at the mail box. Well, that puts the whole transit time within the US Postal Service as happening in 'background'. Clearly I can't buy that premise.

I think that press release would have been more appropriately posted with the "Thread Morons" subject. (No offense intended to SIer....Joe B.)

Of course the postage meter company is TOTALLY objective with regard to this issue.

>>....commissioned by Pitney Bowes Mailing Systems,

'nuff said! There was no need to read beyond that tidbit.

(Yes, I know you saw the humor, too!)

Joe,

This press release is so stupid it will force me into considering PBI as a short candidate.

Have fun,
Phil
