Barbara, Jenna has, on several occasions, emphasized waiting for a stock to exhibit "strength" before buying, even if you must watch it rise a few points before making such a decision. This is sound advice. Resisting the urge to dive in is a tough habit to break.

Very few stocks consistently defy the S&P futures, DJIA, and NASDAQ composite and, in addition to your "gut", I'd highly recommend keeping an eye on these indices while you make your trading decisions. Frankly, watching the tick charts on these three (S&P 100 is good, too) has saved my butt countless times for position and "day trading", as I can see and try to ascertain the market "mood" and play into or out of possible trends. I try to avoid buying a stock in a vacuum, that is, devoid of other market indicators, regardless of what my arrogant, stubborn, and sometimes greedy gut says. :-)
