Interview brief from Multex.com (Phil Leigh, Internet analyst for Raymond James)

TIA] Where do you see the Internet going?

[PL] This year, we entered the multimedia-Internet stage,
with REALNETWORKS (RNWK) and
BROADCAST.COM (BCST) as paragon examples. Later
in the year, the "tele-presence" Internet will become
prominent, in which we'll feel like we're attending a
meeting without actually being there physically. A good
example is NETROADSHOW.COM, now owned by
BROADCAST.COM.

The ubiquitous Internet will come after that, and the companies likely to participate are XERCOM, GENERAL MAGIC (GMGC), LERNOUT & HAUSPIE SPEECH PRODUCTS (LHSP), MICROSOFT (MSFT) and
AMERICA ONLINE. Then, 10 years down the line, will come the virtual-reality Internet. Watch for companies
that provide bandwidth, 3-D fast processing, and software compression capabilities. Companies such as LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS (LVLT), QWEST COMMUNICATIONS INTERNATIONAL (QWST), CIENA (CIEN),
and 3DFX INTERACTIVE (TDFX).
