Jim: re "Call the other Analysts"

Actually, just got off the phone with Compaq - the new Presario notebook based on the K-6-2 400 will be available in 15-17 days.

It will be interesting to hear any comments in the conference call about an increasing percentage of shipments into the higher ASP mobile market. I see much more advertising for AMD-based portables than desktops.

Also note the latest delay in the Profusion chipset from Intel (can't that company do anything right!!!) - this means the rollout of the Poseidon Technology 8-way chipset for Comdex would be even less of a lag than previously believed for the K-7 in the server market. Interesting. - Tad LaFountain

<Jim - re: Nice time to add more stock, except that rising interest rates and later Y2K fears will give the market fits, IMHO.>

AMD is probably one of the safest Y2K plays among the semiconductors because they have very little exposure to the corporate IT purchases. The “nuclear winter” scenarios should affect them the least.
