I remember that summer well too. I have noted it in my newsletter many times as a period reminiscent of this one.

That was the year the MU went to 95 and brought all the semiconductors tumbling down subsequently.

At the same time, the Fed was keen on raising rates, and people were concerned about PC demand.

My, how things always stay the same.
