<<Who cares? Extrapolating from current trends, it'll cost $10.>>

About ready to give up on hardware stocks? Content seems to be the place to be. I'm putting all my money in telepresence strip-clubs. <g>

Anyone else notice the mention in the Maxtor CC that "...follow on products at both spindle speeds will be announced in the next month or so..."

They aren't announcing a low cost drive until the 4Q99 and the server prdcts come in '00. Well, that'll be a 6.X or so 7200rpm product to keep up with QNTM, WDC, but where will the 5400rpm DD fall? 8.x? Lump that into your areal density increase timeline and you'll see scary rates of increase - as a datapt, the 3.2s all shipped around the middle of 98. (That's 250%+)

Bloodbath is coming. Lawrence may finally see a few of his dreams come true.
