Jill, triple witching can work both to your advantage or disadvantage. Be careful.

That Solectron's orders are strong suggests that the overall tech business is solid.

regards

Solectron (SLR) 60 3/8 +2 1/4: Shares of this contract electronics manufacturer are performing well today even though the company only reported an in-line earnings number of $0.29 after the close yesterday. That in-line EPS number belied a strong report. Revenues surged 68.3% year/year and the company reported on its conference call that orders from OEMs remain strong as does the trend toward outsourcing. Though bullish for SLR, we mention this report for its broader implications. First, it suggests that good news is likely to be seen in Jabil Circuit's (JBL) report after the close today. JBL (54 5/8 +1 1/16) has already seen a solid run this week ahead of the report, but the good news from SLR indicates that the gains may well be justified. JBL has a long history of beating estimates (has done so in 8 of the last 9 reports) and with business strong among the OEMs, there is a good chance that JBL will beat this quarter's $0.29 First Call consensus. The SLR report also bodes well for the tech sector generally. SLR has a very diverse client base which includes OEMs in the PC, computer peripherals, networking, wireless phone, telecom equipment, and workstation/server industries. That its orders are strong suggests that the overall tech business is also solid, and indeed we are seeing stock price gains across these industries today
