Uh oh...

I think I found the culprit for the recent downtrend in the stock. The answer is Gilder Gagnon Howe & Co. LLC. They are a hedge fund that has just registered a whopping 16% (May 31) of outstanding stock in the company. I suspect they are also short the same number of shares, giving them the ability to drop the stock regardless of the downtick rules and wreak havoc with the stock. I say this because these people specialize in shorting stocks and the downtrend started immediately after their registration. The only other reason I see them owning so many shares is because they believe 3dfx is a takeover target.

Pat

P.S. The April 12th filing by them shows ownership of 7%.
