Toronto, Ontario, Jun. 17, 1999 (Market News Publishing via COMTEX) -- LaserMedia Communications Corp. has announced an agreement with XRNet Corporation which will enable LaserMedia's actfit.com and fitweek.com websites to reach up to five million health club members across North America by the end of 1999. XRNet, a subsidiary of 701 New Media LP, is the developer of the XRNet ClubSites program. Working with leading fitness club chains and consultants in the United States, including World Gym, Casey Conrad Communication Consultants, and Fitness Focus Inc., XRNet currently has agreements to deliver and manage websites for 2,500 clubs, with an additional 2,500 expected to be added before the end of 1999. As the average membership of XRNet's clubs is 1,000, this translates into a potential 5 million new unique visitors for LaserMedia's sites. Under the terms of the agreement with LaserMedia, dated June 15, 1999, XRNet grants exclusive rights to LaserMedia to supply its proprietary interactive software (Active Trainer and Active Planner) and its weekly e-zine FitWeek to the club sites managed by XRNet. As an additional benefit for LaserMedia, XRNet will sell advertising for the company's sites. LaserMedia will pay XRNet 15 percent commission on advertising sold by XRNet. "Targeting specific interest groups is a significant challenge on the Internet, and with our association with XRNet we have made major inroads in delivering our prime audience", said LaserMedia CEO Richard Hue. "As well as having a very positive effect on our traffic statistics, this agreement will give us the vehicle to deliver a quality audience to our advertisers." The ClubSites program provides fitness clubs with comprehensive professionally-designed websites covering all major aspects of each club's activities in the context of an on-line fitness journal. All components of the clubs' web sites can be updated daily by club personnel using common word processing skills. "Each site is dynamic and interactive and the content is presented in a fresh and topical way", said Bob Clapperton, Executive Vice President and Director of Operations at XRNet. "Club members are attracted to return again and again, building traffic for our sponsors and strategic partners. Actfit.com and fitweek.com will be key elements of each site, and we are confident that we will bring significant traffic to both LaserMedia sites." In other news, LaserMedia, in Press Release no. 33, stated that Thomas R. DiBenedetto, appointee to its Advisory Board, is a trustee of Massachusetts General Hospital. In fact Mr. DiBenedetto is an incorporator of the hospital and Joslin Diabetes Center. Actfit.com is the Internet's only fully-interactive health and fitness website.
