We may be getting a preview of what will happen next month after emc announces earnings with the behavior of orcl today. Like emc orcl had a lot of doubters. Orcl totally blew away its numbers, beating by 4 cents. If emc can beat expectations by even a little, I sense we will get a relief rally and it could surge 10-15% overnight. I just hope we don't have to wait all that time till mid Jul for emc to break out of its trading range it's been stuck in for the last couple of months. It looks like 55 is the big barrier for emc to clear. After that it should at least hit 60. I'm still hoping for some good news from emc in the next couple of weeks to stoke a nice rally. Lord knows we shareholders have had enough worries lately so that we deserve one. I've noticed an unusual number of companies pre-announcing good earnings this quarter (hint hint).
For the record I'm going to go with 52.5 as the closing price for Friday. I'd like to see us catch up with the stock price of csco (pre-split, i.e. multiply emc's price by two). I think it's doable, as emc may be growing faster than csco. We'll know more after they both report earnings.
I have been predicting a rally from the middle of Jun to sometime in the middle to end of July for a while now. I hope today is the first day of that long desired event.
