darrell, darrell, darrell..not sure your point with dating "oriental" women and being maligned by a jpns female in college...hey don't understand what it has to do with my basic statement that dell copied a jit model based on "kanban" which was introduced by toyota in the sixties. for "mikey" to give no credit to anyone for "his" ideas in "direct from dell" is a bit disingenuous. as far as consuming less then the average american, perhaps the reason is they only consume what they need, when they need it, one trip to tokyo and the answer is clear...the housewife buys and prepares food daily, a bit like bto/jit. so maybe "mikey" spent a lot of time watching "speedracer" and "astroboy" and picked up the culture through tv...i'm sure he never heard of deming either.

oh by the way "mikey" didn't graduate from yale...deming did in 1928....what that has to do with "clinton" and your reference to "orientals" and "real fish" eludes me...not taking a thing from "mikeys" accomplishment, but let's give credit where credit is due...does not demean "mikey" a bit that he copied an existing model and improved on it...it was an exemplary accomplishment. just understand the pros and cons of the model, in the real world.
