Well, it would seem kind of pointless to just hang the jury without deliberating, and trying to talk some sense into the other jurors. It would be no favor to the defendant, as he'd likely have to bear the cost of another trial. The likelihood is that I'll never be faced with the decision, as most of the charges I wouldn't convict are either not prosecuted much, or are settled in plea bargains. The juries in my state also sentence, and usually aren't very nice about it. Also, I'd probably disclose my position in Voir Dire. So only if the prosecutor didn't have the presence of mind to ask me if I could convict in such a case, coupled with the unlikely chance of the trial occuring make me think I have a better chance of my Big Game calls coming into the money than having to deal with the jury room in such a case.
