Kerry,

Re: IBM/BRCD

".If someone here or on Yahoo has better G2 on Blue, feel free to change my "perception""

Not to change your perception, because I think that BRCD is on track to win IBM but ...

I've had several friendly conversations with IBM engineers in an FC group here. From what I gather they are using a McData(=BRCD) switch. They have never even tested any others(at least not here). The decision to go with a BRCD solution was made a long long time ago before ANCR had as compelling an offer(I would estimate eight months or more ago) as they do now. Recently I mentioned to an IBM FC engineer two of Ancor's exclusive features, hard zoning and multi-staging. He hadn't heard of the latter(this guy wasn't responsible for switching per se) but he'd definitely heard of hard zoning and considered it a necessary feature(as does Sun). Apparently they have been promised this feature and if it isn't forthcoming from McData, they can kiss the contract goodbye(his impression, of course).

So while I would agree that IBM is in the BRCD camp, they may not stay there if they don't come up with hard zoning in the time line that has been promised(sorry, I don't know what that time line is). So there is still some chance for Ancor although it depends on BRCD/McData not being able to deliver the "hard zoning" goods as promised. Also, I might add that he seemed very interested in the multi-staging possibilities of the Ancor switch.

Bottom line: Even if BRCD announces something with IBM it doesn't mean that the game is over. It's the bottom of the first, BRCD was first to bat and scored a few runs. So what. With odds like 56 1/8 to 17 3/8 in favor of BRCD against a backdrop of Ancor's technology, I'll take Ancor any day. The game is far from over...
