Now Ed, do you really expect the cable folks to provide adequate customer service. Remember these are the folks that raise your TV rates at every opportunity and give you another trash TV channel to compensate. They ought to feel right at home (pun intended) under AT&T's ownership. Ain't monopolies great?? ;0)

This is an old issue that will only get worse unless the cable boys decide to spend the money to upgrade their network. I still firmly believe that the best solution long term is X/DSL.

@home restricts the *upstream* speed to 128k because the technology is not strong enough to handle a lot of people sourcing data.

This is one of the many reasons why "open" access is a difficult thing to achieve. With many ISP's and no one in charge how can anyone provide quality service?

You see already how much @Home struggles just to give its present users consistent performance. Imagine how much harder it would be if 30 ISP's tried to use the same infrastructure all at once.
