if gilder is correct that the most profitable companies of the paradigm move data and that wireline voice moves to the internet as almost a freebie, all due to the explosion in broadband, and that wireless, specifically CDMA, becomes the new cash cow,( of which USW uses PCS/Qcom, (long QCOM)) then perhaps USW has an asset of interest for QWST. however, i still believe long distance movement of data, not voice, is where the growth is. buying USW a ROBC, in the hopes that the feds will perhaps in a year or two allow you access to the long distance market is fraught will risk. but isn't that why we buy high flying growth stocks, hoping to hit that home run.
