Art, I agree that flash is superior to Microdrives. But now that the drive is actually shipping, we'll have a chance to see if the retail market agrees too.

I'd sooner have a few SNDK flash cards than a Microdrive. After all, the microdrive has two motors, uses more battery power, and has moving parts, all of which affects performance and reliability. Sure, it's an engineering marvel and it fits in many devices designed for flash memory. I don't see it capturing much of the digital camera market, or even the palm computing/wireless market.

I could not agree more. Neither can the average consumer. At an entry price now below $100.00 the urge to buy is irresistable.
