Only possibilities but for large financial corporations, many take account payments/deposits by drafting accounts on a monthly basis, mutual funds even do this with a set rate every month.

In other businesses the accounts payable departments often send the same payment amounts every month where they are paying the same companies. If they have a large enough volume it can be cost effective to process this all electronic. Send the payment on the last day due without having to account for mail delivery lag and possibly better confirmation. Especially if you are dealing with a large sum of money.

Intrapay claims to be using it for A/R and A/P transactions.

If you can process all or most your financial transactions through this way imagine the amount you can save on postage, invoices, late notices, collections and even employee costs associated with these.

Not sure if this was quite what you meant but they are possibilities.
We will see as it rolls out.
