Ah yes, the snakes are coming out to sun themselves. (from Drudge) GORE MOVING AWAY: NOW CALLS LEWINSKY AFFAIR 'INEXCUSABLE' Vice President Al Gore tells Diane Sawyer that President Clinton's extramarital affair with Monica Lewinsky was "inexcusable" -- and the president lied to him the way he lied to the rest of the nation. The comments, to be aired on ABC's 20/20 Wednesday night, are the vice president's most extensive yet on the topic of Clinton's impeachment. Gore: "What he did was inexcusable, and particularly as a father, I felt that it was terribly wrong, obviously... Certainly the impression that he gave me and the others that he worked with was not the truth." Throughout the ABC interview, Gore and his wife, Tipper, held hands. Mrs. Gore told Sawyer that she was "very surprised" by Clinton's actions. Asked what she would have done if she had been in Hillary Clinton's shoes, Tipper said: "I would -- I don't -- I can't imagine it being me." Gore returns to his hometown of Carthage, Tennessee to formally kick off his campaign Wednesday. In a news conference with local reporters, Gore said for the first time that he would not hesitate to distinguish himself from Clinton. Gore: "I've kept to myself because I took an oath under the Constitution to serve my country as vice president... Now, everything changes Wednesday morning when I become a candidate... "I remained steadfast [during Lewinsky] for two reasons. No. 1, he's my friend and my co-worker and I keep my commitments - to my wife and to my family and to my job. That's a code of honor with me." --- Snakes are thick this year down in Tennessee.
