Do you realize that if the stock really tanks, ACTV might actually show a profit this quarter?? They've got $4.1 million hung up on the balance sheet (as a liability) just waiting to be taken back into income. :) What a great Plan you approved!

I'm no accountant, and haven't looked at this in a few weeks, but I don't think that the liability can move back to income. I don't think any of the future compensation has to be "given back" if the stock goes down.

What I do remember is that say the stock goes from 20 at end of 1Q to 5 at end of 2Q to 21 at end of 3Q. In 3Q the appreciation rights are based on the difference between the closing price and the highest price already paid for appreciation rights so it would be ($21-$20=$1) NOT ($21-$5-$16). So there really is no reward for the stock going down, unless they issue shares and dilute the stock and increase the market cap that way.
