I don't deny the potential of Rambus' future. What I question is the extent of numbers regarding future valuations for Rambus often floated around this chat site and others. Unless everything goes PERFECTLY, which is rarely the case, these numbers are more likely see in the Land of Oz.

" The wide datapath of SDRAM makes it very expensive to use more than one bus, forcing contention between the various resources which need access to memory. DRDRAM offers the option of using multiple busses and eliminating contention. This is a brand new concept which is not well understood yet "

I CAN SEE WHY? CAN YOU?

I didn't think so!!!! It's sooo wide that the multiple bus does not know why I think the concept is right for multiple busses that are FAST. Right?

Scumbria,

The real value of DRDRAM is not going to be obvious for a few more months. When we start seeing graphics designs with multiple DRDRAM ports, it will become apparent that there is a whole world of untapped possibility out there

I agree!

IMO, there will be MANY smart software companies taking advantage of the new capabilities.

You might consider selling some of that overvalued AMD and pick up some undervalued RMBS. Wait one year and then compare the two investments. <gg>

Scumbria,

Digital signal processors would also benefit from multiple DRDRAM ports. They have multiple internal buses for instruction fetching and for parallel data paths which are generally all multiplexed onto a single external memory port in current designs.
