Agree 100 % and more.... here is a copy of part of a PM I sent to someone else: ------------------------------------------------------------------ I do not believe anyone really knows to what extent, this "Internet effect" and e-commerce phenomenon will impact life in general as much as the Internet buffs say it will.... or as the old Dinosaurs say "it is only a mania that soon will pass". I believe that the truth is somewhere in the middle. Personally, I tend to be on the 70% range favoring that the Internet and e-commerce will impact us substantially. However, I also believe that there are many companies built on "Castles in the Air". Amazon may be the exception because of their attention to customer service.... If their chiefs know how to handle cash flow, (and the amounts are large, which seems to be), This flying pig will last a long while... particularly if to top the above, they have a friendly line of financing from the equity/debt market. These factors may give them the needed time to last long enough to eventually turn a profit. I have no factual knowledge or basis to make this statement, other than personal observation and the comments from many people saying that their site is great, that they buy their books and other things along those lines. ------------------------------------------------------------ And no, I do not think E-TRADE belongs to the "Castles in the Air" category, if I believed so, I would not be posting here. Still... there is a degree of speculation since there are a number of unresolved issues, including the need for an improved technology to carry the load that their own growth expectation represent. As such one must be prepared for wild swings as we already have witnessed.
