Ten & Intel Investors - INTEL PENTIUM III PROCESSORS BECOMES STANDARD AT FUJITSU

Too many, this may not seem surprising.

However, historically, Fujitsu was the INITIAL SPARC CPU manufacturer for Sun Microsystems and an original SPARC licensee. Fujitsu also bought HAL - another SPARC systems house.

Sounds like the SPARC has died at Fujitsu.

INTEL PENTIUM III PROCESSORS BECOMES STANDARD AT FUJITSU

(This is a reformatted version of a press release issued by Fujitsu Limited. This document was obtained from www.fujitsu.co.jp.)

Fujitsu teamservers Power Up Again Intel Pentium III processors become the standard at Fujitsu

Tokyo, June 9, 1999 --Fujitsu Limited today announced 550MHz Intel(R) Pentium(R) III processor based teamserver options and moved to standardize all teamservers on Intel Pentium III processor technology. From July shipments, Fujitsu's teamserver C300i single processor file and print series, C800i dual processor workgroup computing series and G800i dual processor departmental application series will have Intel Pentium III processor options for 450MHz, 500MHz, and the very latest 550MHz.

This follows closely on the company's recently announced 500MHz Intel Pentium III Xeon processor-based enterprise and data center class servers. The teamserver lineup now comes with all of the available Intel Pentium III processor options. These new options not only offer Fujitsu customers more power and greater installation flexibility in these popular model lines, but also set the stage for new products with superior RAS (Reliability, Availability and Serviceability). "Client/server and Internet computing are quickly absorbing the continuing growth in computing power we are able to deliver through our close relationships with partners like Intel," said Mr. Kazuto Kojima, Senior Vice President, Fujitsu Limited. "So we are happy to be able to quickly pass on new power standards as they become commercially available. Our next step will be to back that up with even more appealing RAS strategies for our customers."

Fujitsu also announced with two new cost-effective rack enclosure options: a 2-meter-high 40U rack and a 1.2-meter-high 24U rack. All 800i series teamservers can be delivered in industry standard 19-inch racks, which continue to offer top-of-the-line reliability options. Fujitsu undertakes strict in-house RAS testing of teamservers in rackmounted configurations. The company sees reliability in the data center as the key to customers adopting Intel architecture products for mission-critical systems. About Fujitsu Limited
