Probably, yes. But people who are convinced that decisions on right and wrong are made by a Supreme Being are more easily manipulated by the S.B.'s self-proclaimed representatives than those who see those qualities as lessons learned through extensive experience. Perhaps.

The capacity to rationalize is infinite, but the harder it is to conceal a rationalization behind a welter of superstitious chatter, the greater the chance that at least a few people will recognize the rationalizations, and possibly even challenge them.
