John,
The most important message that I could give is that I am not a Y2K expert for my company or any other. My opinions are based on personal experience and not research. Believe it or not, sometimes I put more credence in personal experience than experts or formal research. The fact is, I believe that the Y2K issues have been a huge part of why we have had the boom in prosperity; basically from people ripping out infrastructure and retooling with Y2K compliant equipment rather than trying to go through the Y2K remediation process.

Now, just because I don't think that the Y2K problems is as big as perhaps you do, doesn't mean that I don't think that there won't be some problems and that the market won't take a dump regardless of how severe those problems are. You can be assured that though I am looking for the best, I am preparing for the worst. I have far too much to lose to not do some risk management.

I believe that the true significance of the Y2K problem will fall somewhere in between the extremes. I have read quite a bit on the Y2K state of the union and the fact is that on the doom and gloom side I have found quite a bit of exaggeration of the problem. I am talking about stuff that I know is not true and I am just some sales and marketing schmuck.
