Alternate forms of high storage would be great, but nothing beats hard drives for the combination of low cost, random access, high speed and recordability. Most of the HDD makers are losing money on the low prices (see recent earnings announcements from Maxtor and Quantum).

The ability to store large quantities of information in a small space is one thing (remember "digital paper"?), but the ability to build an inexpensive unit that can read and write that data is another.

Still, I am always interested in the leading edge. I wish your guys much success!

Personally, my money is on trapped-tachyon and super-string storage technology.
