Off topic -- Why stock went up today.

I took the afternoon off. It seems whenever I turn my back, stocks take off. Maybe I shouldn't work so hard.

PW.

P.S.

I'm glad you found the PE stuff of some use. I've noticed MSFT's PE climbing for quite some time now. I thought that when the PE matched the growth rate, conventional investors would stop bidding the stock higher, but I was wrong. What the PE doesn't take into consideration is the deferred revenue which has been building over time. It's grown to quite a pot by now. Anyway, when this is added into the earnings using reasonable assumptions, the PE doesn't look so far out of line, though it's still not low.
