Skeeter,

In the context of market efficiency (or lack thereof), I am unaware of any measure of randomness other than the statistical one. Martingales are the modelling tools used in such a measure. If you are really interested in knowing why stock prices changes are considered random, I will be happy to have a discussion. However, I need to know at what level I should start from.
