Several points about GNET in that article. Note that GNET had a business and a product:

In addition to creating original content, the
company has created several Internet products
using the Java programming language. Those
programs include go2search, a mega-search engine
that queries multiple sources, and go2vision, a
software application that allows customized stock
quotes and sports scores as well as headline news to
run while a user works on other software
applications or searches the Web.

The company recently was cited as one of the top
100 most popular Web sites by Hot 100. In the past
month or so, Go2net became the exclusive licensee
to the Metacrawler search engine, which was created
by several University of Washington professors and
which searches through several popular search
engines simultaneously.

Since launching earlier this year, Horowitz said the
site has received over 80,000 unique users a day,
and racked up about 500,000 page views.

To complement its content, Go2net is creating
Java-based development tools, and has ambitious
plans to create innovative applications that will
draw and keep users who have access to the latest
and greatest technology. For instance, while it has
designed a scrolling stock ticker much like other
sites, it has added technology that allows a user to
get historical information on the fly simply by
moving the mouse over a certain point on a graph.
And its stock ticker moves from page to page while a
user visits the site, unlike many others that stay
solely on one page.
