Today's close was solid . . . but it remains to be seen how well this rally will hold up. The past few attempts to rally have fizzled after a day or three. I think most of the downside threat has been worked out of the sector and Amazon but I'm not sure that massive amounts of new capital are ready to jump into the stock without doing some base building first. My guess is that we will get a more sustained rally this time. But there is likely to be nervousness and profit taking along the way. Earnings reports for many tech stocks are expected to be very good. amazon will show wider losses so the question will be whether their evolving story looks more compelling than the mounting expenses.

Bezos will discuss Amazon's deal with Southeby's on CNBC this evening. I think that deal actually might make sense because it furthers Amazon's image as the "Nordstrom's of Web Retailer's". In any case, Bezos timing on this announcement will help the stock.
