only in pm's do i get support for my view.

the point which is just lost on the thread or on me if you take the thread's point of view is do we continue to base investment decisions on the fact that something is "overvalued" and then complain the books are cooked AFTER THE FACT?

Saying we are in an environment that encourages creative accounting is excellent, imo. And to say to ourselves "We will factor this into our thinking" is also excellent. So to look at IBM and say "It makes me nervous to buy puts on IBM because I believe they are very creative with accounting" is sound thinking.

However to say "IBM is a pos" and then to get blindsided by a good report and say "I'm shocked, shocked to see the flim flam going on here, it's a conspiracy" is very weak market thinking, imo.

I need to stop posting this way. It is adverse to what the thread believes or wants to hear. I have tried to do what I saw as being helpful. It is not worth the energy to me to continue to argue the point. Peace.

GAO wouldn't be complaining if
there wasn't evidence that the books are being cooked.

I agree with you Cobalt, I think that the CPI is not acurately reflecting the inflation in the economy.
