One of the reasons that this thread is so good, in my view, is that its posters don't spend a lot of time chit-chatting about price predictions, rah-rah cheerleading, etc. The following is a passage from The Motley Fool: "The best discussion that goes on our Motley Fool message boards exists between people who are focusing on the businesses being discussed, rather than speculating about their stock prices. I would so much rather read someone's future vision of Amazon.com -- whether it's encouraging or terrifying -- than thoughtless speculation about its stock price: "It's going to $X by Y date." Sure, sure. Leave that to the Wise -- allow them their distractions. Here in Fooldom, let's stay focused on the evolution of business, on the actual products and services, on competition, on relevant facts that discerning investors can use to make better investment decisions." Any idiot can make a price prediction, but if it is unsupported by evidence who the hell cares? When this thread rocks its when someone has discovered a new article somewhere, or someone does an analysis of E*Trade's prospects, or explains why they're long (or even short) EGRP. Our ratio of good posts to fluff is very good, and I hope it stays that way.
