1) when would I know if I'm allocated?
Don't know for Waterhouse, but Etrade tells you the night before trading.
2) How fast do I need to respond, is it first come first serve?
If you get shares, you probably don't need to respond do you?
3) Would they tell you the number of shares one is allocated before the IPO actually trades in the market?
Yes
4) Do they check your cash portion of your total equity before deciding if one is to be allocated, even if one won the lottery?
Yes...but again don't know how Waterhouse does these things.

Thean,

Yes on NALSC. I got two mailings. There is a pre-printed form that should have your trades. It did for me.

If not, gulp, you have to put them in AND if they number greater than 31, then they have to be electonic (like.........send them a diskette!!).

Have fun. Hope you have ALL those records from that far back. If you do, you are one ready dude...<g>

Re NALSC - yes I got one, and it is preprinted, but I wasn't actively trading securities back then, so my list is VERY short. Before you list additional stocks, go to the webpage listed on the form to determine whether the the securities you traded are part of the settlement. I think it only covers certain stocks (and thus certain MMs).

How much will we get? Here is the official answer from the website FAQ:

Unfortunately, we cannot estimate the amount of your recovery at this time. The recovery per share will depend on the number and size of all valid claims we receive, and on the mix of institutional and other claims, none of which is known now. Moreover, the entire Proposed Plan of Distribution is subject to final Court approval.
