Grocery store checkout.

Ever notice the grocery stores have 12 checkout aisles, but never have more than 3 opened.

I say get rid of the other 9, they don't use them anyway, and stock the things they are always out of, or that brand of cat food they don't carry because they have no room! Ugggghhhhh

carole, sorry to hear that. i cut the line when they ask me to fill additional forms. try it. as to the post office, most of my gifts are either money, ordered and sent directly online, or by hand. i don't have big boxes to send. i was pissed yest. when i had to wait for stamps 20 minutes, literally. they were putting a new system and i was only 2nd in the stamp/express-mail line. now i found that i can order those nice stamps ("Arctic Animals") by mail so i feel better.
i once had to send a postmark-proved letter, waited in line 5 minutes to establish my place, left to another store for ~10 minutes, and was in front of the line.
i almost always have the "marketplace" section of the wsj when i go to stores.
