Tom, don't forget(other than one up grade)nothing is new or has changed from a week or two when S3 was trading at $6. CPQ win--- we all already knew that(even S3 told us 3 of the top 5 OEM)Fab value we have know that for over a year(value in March of 98 was est. at 500 million it dipped during the asian crisis). However, recently Pott said on CNBC said it was worth more than S3 market cap, so anyone who could add knew it was at least 475-500 million. So if we knew that then analyst must of known it then too. So why was the stock stuck in a trading of $6 x $9.50,so lets call it $7 to $9 1/4 for the last 6 months???? Where was the up grade when S3 was at $6, or $4 or $2??? Why now?? If its a "buy" at $9, weren't or shouldn't it had been a "strong buy" at $6 a few weeks ago(or at least a 33% better buy??) Again nothing is new or has changed(hopefully yet)but the stock is up over 27% in 3 days. The street is waiting for the same answer it been asking for 5 or 6 quarters. Can you run the business and produce a profit and if so what amount of profit can S3 make ?? Until S3 can clearly answer that question all the rest is just noise, very nice noise, but noise never the less. The second question will be, what are the growth prospects for the graphic industry as a whole and S3 within it and is it a commodity business?? Last question might be why did S3 decide to partner with VIA instead of Intel their buddy??? This action may not only have pissed off Intel and drove them into the arms of the likes of maybe ATI, it may have put S3 in Intel cross hairs when Intel and VIA clash very soon.sharkyextreme.com
