Judy, have been there, done that, It's natural ( and sometimes prudent) to err on the safe side. Do not be down on yourself for not trading a speculative day, don't trade because you think your missing something, trade only when it "feels" right to you, don't second guess yourself, presevation of capital 1st profit second. Opportunity is all around everyday, read between the lines of all who post here.
you can get a vibe of whats sectors are hot buy the posts we make
Jenna is always timely with her buy signals giving you plenty of opportuity to join the party. Option Jerry, Small fry,Adelle, Teri, Burj,Kha vu, all contribute and all have a better than avg, track record. I myself dont post picks because I have several going @ once and prefer to keep my "eye on the ball" I post money flow so our thread has another valuable tool to assist them ( my contribution in lieu of specific picks)don't get discouraged, we've all been there......
Best wishes
john

Lane and Judy,
You're not alone...I guess I feel fortunate that I have an excuse for not doing much of anything in this market the last few days..because it makes me very cautious to see these massive swings in prices..don't know what or who to trust...or not trust...so I watch..
I will only play with stocks I know very well at times like this and even that is not a guarantee of success...
The "cure" you ask? I think the cure is to put Mr. G., inflation fears, interest rate hikes, etc. in a box and tape it shut so the rest of us can enjoy our growing companies and their rising stocks!
It seems that everyone is skittish now-a-days....jumping in and out of stocks that they know are basically good stocks for fear of losing their principal. I sold TER for a 5 pt. gain and lost out on the continued rise..I knew it was a good stock in a hot sector right now but sold anyway. Why? Fear.
There is this old saying..."To fear is to fail, to dare is to do." I should tape that to my computer.......
I also have a long term group of stocks that I don't touch, even when they are in the red...this group has been the best gainers for me over the years...the red ones are the newer ones added, the green ones are so green they can handle a lot of volatility of the newly added shares...
Also, my and your daily moods affect everything...some days I feel really brave and daring and will buy anything that ticks up and other days I can see a no brainer of a gain and sit there and just watch it go up. Again, why? Who knows.
This investing, trading, gambling(?) is tricky, FUN, a BLAST, terrifying, humbling, angering, exciting, exhilarating and all-in-all, something that I have come to love to do. I am truly still just a babe in the woods when it comes to knowledge about the workings of the stock market and all the things that affect it..there is something to learn every single minute!
Well, here is the end to the musings of a Gemmer...
PS..and I don't even do options.........yet.
