KOOP's $89 million payment to AOL for marketing will directly help DEMP as they are the only drugstore with an agreement to have products listed with a link to DEMP site when people research medical information on DR.KOOP. So if someone researches ED on KOOP, DEMP will be listed as a source for filling a prescription for Viagra (or at least that's the concept). This is not an exclusive arrangement, but so far no additional announcements have been made. Actually, I'd expect the referrals will not overlap. If DEMP doesn't provide the product, maybe another company would get the referral. Still, this is major, AOL marketing directly benefiting DEMP.

Now speculation - Amazon bought into drugstore.com (fact). Can the other players be left without a drugstore connection for long? So who will it be? Or how many companies will fight over Drug Emporium?
