Randy, OK, I'll take you up with an honest answer. I have not had a trading year below 500% pre-tax in three years. No kidding. Before that, I went through a tremendous battle/struggle/learning curve, to essentially pick up a new profession - trading. I've come to look upon learning to trade well, as probably a 10-year process / learning curve - not something that happens quickly. There is a lot of great information out there now about T.A./trading/money management, especially with the web content evolving so quickly, and it offers a tremendous amount of opportunity to learn quickly, even compared to three years ago. I certainly wouldn't look down on a 3x return over six years, that's very respectable and about what you'd expect with a skilled investing style. Actively trading requires a LOT more work, and in the early years the risk is much higher. Not everyone has the aptitude, or is well-suited to it, or inclined to approach things that way. However (a well-kept Wall Street secret because it's where they make over half their profits) good traders can make anywhere from 20-30% to thousands of percent a year, depending upon their skill/knowledge level, capitalization levels, market conditions, willingness to assume risk, and many other factors. It's all over the map, as far as returns (a lengthy topic which I've spent a lot of time examining). I'm not prone to exageration, I have hundreds of posts on "how to" learning articles to share my experiences and showing exactly how do it over on the "Daytrading Fundamentals" thread... and I'm well known figure in Silicon Valley (www.svnl.com). I do not stand to material gain by sharing technique/"learns" on Si; I'm not one of these self-proclaimed gurus with a website, money-making agenda, etc. Just a guy who sees trading as a big opportunity, a unique business opportunity, and a fun way to make a lot of money. My philosophy is, by sharing, you learn... and I continue to learn things from other traders every day, on these boards and elsewhere. Best Regards, -Steve
