If we get anywhere near 39 again, I will buy 500 more. There are other stocks that are beaten up and might represent value, need to think on that though. Also, I am tempted to trade this market on any big moves up, BWDIK!

[START OF SNIPPET]

Reading Between the Lines

Pay attention when an analyst goes out of her way to point out why a certain
development will not hurt a company she likes. Such a declaration caught my eye
when Laura Conigliaro of Goldman Sachs alerted clients that recent checks indicate
that Network Appliance (NTAP:Nasdaq) "has not been impacted by recent
announcements of IBM (IBM:NYSE) and Compaq (CPQ:NYSE) entering the service
appliance market."

Full confession: I must have missed the moves by IBM and Compaq. Might there be
NetApp investors who also did? Network Appliance makes storage server devices, and
its stock has done amazingly well: Up more than 13-fold from its November 1995 IPO.
According to Conigliaro's estimates, the company's earnings are growing at 70%
year-over, hence its current multiple of 66 times 1999 profits.

For emphasis, Conigliario is no dummy. She's cleverly covering her bases by pointing
out the risk that IBM and Compaq could cause some damage even as she swats
away the concern for the time being.
