I agree, I would not recommend the trading approach to anyone. It is a very rough road to get down. The tax hit is major, almost 50% depending on your state. Definitely, don't quit your day job!

The majority of people who try trading full-out, go bankrupt. It is frought with risk. There is no guarantee of success, and many fail!

In other words, it's a very entrepreneurial activity. More risk than staring almost any kind of business...

Investing, on the other hand, is much lower-risk, many succeed. One of it's advantages. There are many trade-offs!
