I've gone through the profile of nearly 70 small biotech companies. Money/Cash is not a problem. Most of these biotech companies already have over $10 million in cash. However, I have not checked their debt position. If they are in debt they may need CIST's additional millions. Reasons for Mergers: synergy growth accelerate growth leverage vertical integration increase product lines, depth, width gain market share gain international exposure gain international market share gain a niche market diversification increase return on investment increase return on assets increase return on equity publicity need for new leadership/management facing bankruptcy under bankruptcy easier than starting a new entity increase efficiency politics/contacts
