From July's Smart Money:
" Ed Kershner has been calling this market for twelve years.. last year picks soared 60%...likens the Internet rally to a stock craze, features only one Net stock, AOL, on his highlighted list."

tang, again I want to respond as generally as possible, because I think your posts may say more about the tenor of this thread than about any particular poster on this thread.

If someone presents insightful analysis supported by accurate data, it does not really matter to me what position they choose to take on the particular stock or index in question. I will find that information very helpful and I will appreciate the time and effort the poster took to share it with the group. After all, posting is a voluntary effort, so when one finds another's posts helpful, I believe it important to express appreciation for those efforts.

Of course, there is the issue of whether a poster has some hidden agenda, which is really what underlies at least some of your concerns. By reading an author's posts, we all get a sense over time as to the nature of that person's agenda. And obviously you and I have not yet come to the same conclusion about this particular poster. That is why you posted (what I believe to be) your sincere questions to this poster, in order to better ascertain his agenda. That is fine.

I suppose I am responding to you in part because this poster's agenda to me is clearly on the up and up. Fortunately, as this poster works on WS, any flak he experiences on this thread he probably views as child's play <g>. I guess I am responding in part because I find his posts to be some of the most insightful and helpful anywhere on the SI forum.

Regards.

Thread: I trade technically and short-term(week to week). Although I have a lot to say about fundamentals and I think the internet stocks are overvalued, I generally ignore fundamentals and trade on the charts. If you want to know my position, just follow what I say technically. I am currently flat. AOL is at a critical level right now sitting on it's negative trend line. It could go either way from here. Solid break above on heavy volume will be bullish. Below, selling intact.
Tang, there are no buy signals, as u say(except stochoastics). Every other signal is bearish. I have had very heavy positions both ways on AOL in the past few months, but I have always felt the PEs are ridiculous. Nonetheless, I have been long AOL on the charts until it all really broke down on 5/21.
As I've told others, if u can't take negative posts, don't read mine because I will not hold back just because some longs get pissed off. I do not pump up AOL fundamentally when I am long. I hold pretty steady whether long or short. I appreciate posts from people who are knowledgable so I can learn something. I don't care what their position is. If I say something inaccurate, let me know.
