NEWS RELEASE: Unique Broadband Systems Announces Terrestrial Transmission Networks for SDARS Applications MARKHAM, ON, June 17 /CNW/ - Unique Broadband Systems (VSE: UBS) announces the addition of COFDM based Terrestrial Transmission Networks for Satellite Digital Audio Radio Service (SDARS) applications. SDARS systems operate in the S-band frequency range and have the technological potential to provide nationwide CD quality audio programming. The SDARS service provider transmits the signal from their uplink facility to the geostationary satellite where it is then relayed from the satellite to the individual receivers. Due to the line-of-site limitations of a satellite transmission it is necessary to also have a terrestrial transmission system to reach major cities and other densely populated areas. As an industry leader of wireless transmission equipment in L-Band, S-Band, KA-Band and COFDM modulation technology, the introduction of SDARS systems presented opportunities that were uniquely suited to our capabilities.
