To all my friends - I am off for a few days.

Declaration of interest: I sold my whole position in COMPAQ at $24 5/8 as a defensive measure and in case I got an opportunity to get in at $20 (in extremis,$17). Given the information I had yesterday about the restructuring announcement, I decided to dabble towards the end of the day with a small buy. I intended to trade it on any pop up today, because I was still nervous about a later warning.

I was aware that the information I had yesterday may not have been complete and that they might use the occasion of the re-structuring for financial negatives, but as the day wore on, I came to believe that they would hold negative financials until later in order to allow the market to focus on the re-structuring. I sold yesterday's purchase this morning at $20 5/8 for a small loss.

I agree with those that say there is a kind of brutal realism about the situation now and that there is a platform for sustained improvement. I will reinvest when I get a better grasp of the fundamentals.
