CMTO's modems have been tested against TERNS and come out considerably ahead.

I believe the smoke and mirrors comes into play when TERN says their technology will become the standard and give them a time-to-market lead. Yes, they're co-writing the 1.2 specifications for DOCSIS, but so is Broadcom, so there's no guarantee they'll dominate. And even if they do, there's no way they'll have a time lead as the specifications are in the pool and BRCM is 5 times larger and far more experienced.

There are other factors --- beginning with the certification process. You have to go through each stage to get to the next. Where is TERN right now? Then there's voice development. CMTO has its voice-capable chips in the DOCSIS labs right now. TERN is still in development --- with Rogers Telecom as their partner.

Motorola is a player, certainly, but CMTO has far more advanced technology, engineered specifically for Internet usage.

If you have access to a Dain Rauscher Wessels report, I recommend you request their latest. They explain it all there.

I'm in a hurry so don't have time to post links to other sources.
