I agree, the CNET article on ICQ was interesting. There is one problem the article didn't mention. The name of the game seems to be to get ICQ users to click through to a webpage carrying advertising. Yahoo's instant messenger does allow you to do this--it tracks for example stocks--letting you click on things of interest and get advertising,too. AOL's ICQ users are not all AOL members. In fact, perhaps the majority are not AOL users. That means any click-through can't be to a page within the AOL community, a problem.
Beyond that, I thought the article was well done.
