My understanding of second generation search engines is that it is a caching of information closer to the final user destination point. Supposedly it reduces the search time down and is much more efficient. Beyond that I don't know. For an end user I don't know that it means a whole lot except that its might be quicker (although I can't see a difference).
It is probably more of a factor on those installing the support equipment than it is for those requesting the search.

Anyone notice that we are not trading. That usually happens when news is about to break. Anyone heard anything?

but the news content is always one area that takes a while to develop.
