A 16-month cup formation with a five-month, downward-sloping handle through which AFFX broke on Wednesday at $44, about 12% below its August 1997 all-time high (which it attained after rising from below $10 to $50 in 13 months). And today, up 7% on double average volume, to $48.50, a new 12-month high and within 5% of all-time high. All this, and a combination of biotech and proprietary chips, with a model of "don't waste capital building fabs -- franchise!" Lovely, simply lovely. I've been waiting a long time for this week. It peaked back in Sept 97 around 50. If the markets hold, and AFFX clears 50 then 54, to me it's headed to 80ish. But that would be a 9-12 month target. Volume is heavy, also a good sign. ******************************************************************** Wow, take a few weeks off and miss the whole thing. Congrats longs!!!! Cheers, D
