Y2K problems may be looming in the international investment markets, according to survey results released today by the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).

A low response rate and cautious answers to the survey indicate that many companies may not be prepared for impending Y2K computer problems. Of the 2,469 companies surveyed in which CalPERS has invested more than $35 BILLION, only 600 companies responded to the survey, and only 13.5 percent elected to disclose information or respond meaningfully.

"The surprisingly low number of direct, meaningful responses to our survey concerns us," said Charles P. Valdes, Chair of CalPERS Investment Committee. "A company's failure to make adequate disclosures about its Y2K exposure makes it extremely difficult for an investor to make informed investment decisions."

Responses to the survey have been posted on CalPERS Shareowner Forum ... for the world's investors to view. (The results of the survey can be accessed on the web site under "Shareowner Alert" and can be searched by company and country.)

CalPERS also intends to share the survey results with the fund's active international equity managers and other institutional investors ...

looks like i'm talking to myself on this 'human refuse'/capital punishment solution executed militarily? issue.

for clarification,
no, i don't have any loved ones 'spending time', at least not that i know of.

but others do.

out of sight does not equal out of mind for them. should not imply out of mind for the rest of us enjoying our freedoms either.

if i were to use this thread's silence on this y2k impact aspect of our societal structure, according to this thread's stated purpose,
we are in for some rough times.

why the prison management systems are not openly discussing y2k impact on their population and therefore extending beyond the inside to the 'outside' population at large is beyond me!

maybe its 'spin' by koskinen is too difficult to construct,
so therefore it is currently ignored?

according to dr gary north in his february 18/19-1999 live interview with art bell (see bell's website for a copy of the transcript), the prisoners are most assuredly talking about y2k's impact upon them.

if i'm recalling correctly, dr north stated that the prison population by and large NOW is barely 'under control.' and the prisoners who have access to tv, the internet, etc., know what is going on and their internal 'communication' systems are working just fine when it comes to spreading the word about what y2k is minimally doing to them.

the biggest area of concern dr north mentioned was in the area of potential for parole and time served records getting 'lost' or fouled up in a population whose very basic behavioral underpinning thrives on shards of hope --hope of getting out.

these observations were shared by dr north who claimed to have spent many hours on the inside over the last 20 years in some sort of prison ministry capacity. he did not elaborate. i cannot confirm if that is true.

but let's at least think about it for this brief moment together:

we have:
---a governance who is not telling the truth about 'benign' matters such as accounting systems, sewage systems, chlorination systems, medical equipment certification, gasoline powered vehicle systems, diesel powered systems, nuclear power systems, etc.

---a governance who is busy training the military vis a vis Naval Training College seminars and CNA army training slide shows all previously documented upon this thread but certainly not mainstream information bottle fed at the 6:00 and 11:OO PM feeding times.

therefore, it is totally logical and believeable:
we have:
---a governance who is making extremely distasteful and unpleasant plans for the human refuse of society, and this thread doesn't even want to talk about it?????

If we don't uncover what governance plans are for the unpleasant, incarcerated segment of American society for our 3 day to 3 week power interrupted (opps...does this mean the doors will lock open or closed?) normal way of doing things acc'd to our vaunted truth telling koskinen in charge;

if we don't feret out our governances' plans (yes, plural governanceS) for the incarcerated, then how will we correctly
ascertain the 'lengths' governance will go,
ascertain the personnel governance will use,
ascertain the criteria for who gets and who 'gets it'
ascertain the timetable for implementation.

didn't someone wise and compassionate say so very long ago...
"inasmuch as ye have done it to the least of these, my brethern,
ye have done it unto me?"

insightful words. powerful implications.

if reflection upon that utterance doesn't get you...maybe this one will:
---if we are caught (and incarcerated?) for infractioning some y2k executive order, (of course enforced by our military which will supersede our normal 'policing functionaries',
---if the normal 'due process' is suspended as it ALWAYS is in martial law situations,
we will certainly wish we would have thought about y2k and implications for prison populace a hell of a lot sooner.

no commentary because the implications are too distasteful?
too horrendous?
too far fetched?
won't happen?
other scenarios?

speak up, thread. i'm listening. i'm sure there are others who are as well.

y2k is a great leveller of the old and young
rich and poor
freeperson and 'slave'
lawabiding and lawbreaker
employed and unemployed
techno nerd and techno geek
educated and illiterate
pale skinned and all other hues.

y2k = the ubiquitous red corner stop light.
stop! look! listen!
regardless of social status.
