RDM,

"I agree that this an indication that AMD believes that the current estimates by analysts (-.36) is representative or below the current AMD Q2 projected number."

I do not believe AMD provides guidance on earnings though I think that it is in their interest to make sure that Zacks averages are something they are comfortable with(unless they do not care for the analysts).

AMD will however be pretty much forced to pre-announce if they underperform in the areas where they do provide guidance, such as units and ASPs. For example, I would expect a preannouncement if they cannot ship 5M k6s or if the ASPs are dramatically lower than $78.

I do agree with Yougang that the odds of preannouncement reduce as we get closer to the D-day but from what I gather things are close so I wouldn't be surprised if they wait for the quarter to close and make the call on if they should preannounce. Let's see.
