Piranha are very picky. Yes, but amazingly single minded. In northern Brazil, when a cattle herder needs to get the herd across a piranha-infested river, the only way to accomplish it is to sacrifice a calf to the little buggers and then take the herd of (not surprisingly) visibly timorous bovines across the river upstream from the carnage.

It is also said that they do not have much of a taste for human unless that's all that's left on the smorgasbord, and will turn their piscine little noses up at same when given the option of something apparently tastier.
